An Aluminium Starter Track is required when installing insulation systems. The Starter Track sits just above the DPC layer (near the bottom of the wall) and acts as a stable, protective ledge on which you can build up the insulation boards.

The Aluminium Starter Track is the most basic Starter Track available from EWI Store and gives great value for money when installing EWI onto properties. With easy installation and great durability, this Starter Track is a firm favourite for installers up and down the country. Order the width of the Starter Track that matches the thickness of the insulation you are installing.

Please be aware that the starter track does not have any mesh attached to the leading edge. We recommend buying this Starter Track with a clip on drip profile, which clips onto the front edge and can be meshed into the basecoat layer.

The basic Starter Track comes in lengths of 2.5 linear metres and is installed at the lowest point of installation in order to provide a starting base for the insulation system. For external solid wall insulation, it is paramount to start with an even base, and this aluminium track is the perfect way to ensure this. The Starter Track also protects the insulation from below against water ingress and physical damage.
